Job Description: GENERAL FUNCTION: Manages assigned front-line section (non-exempt employees) within the Operations Division responsible for the fulfillment of legal orders served upon the Bancorp (i.e., garnishments and subpoenas). Minimizes financial and reputational risk exposure associated with such orders. Ensures quality and courteous service to the agencies and professionals requesting information, and represents the bank to government agencies as well as the legal community at large. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: * Partners with Corporate Legal and outside counsel to resolve escalated issues. * Partners with key line-of-business stakeholders (i.e., Retail, Commercial, Consumer Lending) to minimize risks in the end-to-end Bancorp processes for legal orders. * Ensure that department MS Access database design is updated as needed to support process changes. * Advises external attorneys and government agents (i.e. FBI) on the status of legal processing fulfillment. * Keeps informed on rule changes at various state and Federal levels. Ensure that department procedures are compliant with all relevant regulations and ensure top-down training is administered appropriately. * Interprets legal documents on behalf of customers to ensure legal operations processing (for subpoenas and garnishments) is in compliance with Bancorp policies and state laws within the Fifth Third footprint. * Ensures that regulation-sensitive operational tasks are performed within established laws and/or government requirements (i.e., account control agreements, collection requests, attorney non-interest bearing account reporting). * Tracks and facilitates collection of garnishment fees from account holders, and subpoena fees from attorneys and agencies. * Plans, assigns and monitors the workflow of a group of employees within an assigned functional area, maintaining optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness while ensuring that production standards are met and maintained. * Performs regular self risk assessments on all risk sensitive functions within the departmental workflow and ensures proper controls are in place. * Ensures that the area is sufficiently staffed, and that the staff is adequately trained. Monitor and manage employee performance. Prepare/administer employee reviews. * Maintains daily, weekly and monthly reporting of department performance against service level agreements. * Administer all human resource policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner. * Assist with annual expense budget and monthly budget variance reporting. * Perform any other duties as assigned.
